This service includes:
- Facilities for inpatient treatment for eliminating a weakened state of health which would lead to illness within a foreseeable period of time; counteracting a threat to the healthy development of a child (prevention), or curing a disease; or preventing a disease from getting worse; or alleviating the symptoms of a disease; or ensuring or consolidating the treatment success after any kind of hospital treatment; also with the aim of defending against the threat of disability, eliminating a disability, alleviating a disability, or preventing a disability from getting worse; or avoiding or mitigating the need for nursing care (rehabilitation); professionally competent facilities under permanent medical supervision which, with the help of specially trained staff, are equipped to improve the patients’ health condition in accordance with a medical treatment plan, primarily by the application of remedies including physical therapy, movement therapy, speech therapy, or vocational and occupational therapy, and other suitable therapies, including mental and psychological influences, and to help the patients in developing their own immune and healing powers, and which provide the patients with room and board.
Also classified hereunder are the short- or long-term activities of sanitariums, preventive medicine facilities, nursing and convalescent homes, rehabilitation centers, and other public health facilities equipped for accommodating patients. These facilities provide mainly inpatient treatment under direct medical responsibility.
