Rural area; application for funding from the EU LEADER funding program
With the LEADER program, the Bavarian State Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry supports rural regions according to the motto "Citizens shape their homeland". LEADER promotes innovative projects that contribute to strengthening rural areas.
LEADER promotes the formation of Local Action Groups (LAGs) and the implementation of local development strategies.
Funding is provided for individual projects, cross-regional or transnational cooperation between LAGs and LAG management.
Recipients of funding
All applicants with a legal personality (except state authorities) are eligible to apply.
Funding is available for expenditure on investment and non-investment projects.
Type and amount
LEADER funding is provided as a grant (project funding).
The funding rate is between 30 % and 80 % of the eligible costs, depending on the type of project and the spatial funding context.
- The project must be selected by the LAG.
- The projects must serve the implementation of the local development strategy.
- Projects must not be mandatory tasks of local authorities.
In principle, grants can only be approved if the respective project has not yet been started.
Each project must first be submitted to the LAG for evaluation.
The application for funding must be submitted to the local Office for Food, Agriculture and Forestry responsible for LEADER.
The Bavarian State Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry is responsible for the implementation of LEADER in Bavaria.
The LEADER coordinators at 9 Offices for Food, Agriculture and Forestry (AELF) are responsible for advice, information and coordination in LEADER.
At these 9 ÄELF are also the approval offices for the handling of the funding procedure.
Submission of funding applications is only possible until 31.12.2022, provided that the 6 or 12-month deadline according to the LAG decision does not take effect before then anyway.
