Pharmacies; drug and pharmacy regulatory supervision.
The district administrative authorities (district offices, independent cities) are responsible for the supervision of public pharmacies under pharmaceutical and pharmacy law. They use honorary pharmacists for this purpose.
Honorary pharmacists are appointed by the governments of Upper Bavaria and Upper Franconia, respectively. They are responsible for the acceptance and monitoring of public pharmacies.
An inspection of pharmacies usually takes place every two years. During the inspection, the honorary pharmacy councillor checks whether the pharmacy is being operated properly, in particular in accordance with the regulations governing pharmacies, the traffic in medicines and the traffic in hazardous substances, and whether the regulations governing advertising in the field of medicine are being observed.
