Aeronautical equipment operator; registration of a training organisation
Ultra-light aircraft, hang gliders, paragliders, parachutes and paragliders are combined into the aircraft class of air sports equipment. Flight schools for the training of pilots of air sports equipment must be registered.
Description
In order to be allowed to train air sports equipment pilots, flight schools require a permit in accordance with § 28 LuftPersV. The approval of the flight school for the training of air sports equipment pilots can be applied for at the following associations:
- for ultralight aircraft: Deutscher Aero Club e.V. (DAeC); German Ultralight Flying Association e.V. (DULV)
- for hang gliders, paragliders: Deutscher Hängegleiterverband e.V. (DHV)
- for parachutes: Deutscher Aero Club e.V. (DAeC); German Parachuting Association e.V. (DFV)
- for paragliders: Deutscher Aero Club e.V. (DAeC); German Hanggliding Association e.V. (DHV)
The application for approval of a training facility for the training of pilots of aerial sports equipment must include:
- A declaration of any ongoing investigation or criminal proceedings and that a certificate of good conduct in accordance with § 30 BZRG has been applied for submission to the competent authority,
- in the case of legal entities and partnerships, the name and address of the persons authorised to represent them.
The following information must also be provided with the application.
- Name and address of the training institution;
- the date on which the training is to commence;
- Name, address and telephone number of the training manager and of the instructors, indicating their qualifications;
- name and address of the aerodrome;
- List of aircraft to be used at the training facility, indicating aircraft class/type and, if applicable, type, registration, operator, category of certificate of airworthiness;
- Type of training to be conducted at the training facility (theoretical training, flight training, ratings);
- Details of aircraft and trainee insurance;
- Details of full or part-time operation of the training organisation;
- A declaration that the information provided is correct and that the training will be conducted in accordance with the relevant regulations.

Fees
- Information on the costs incurred for the registration of the training institution should be obtained from the relevant association.
