A veterinary clinic is a practice that is under the management of a veterinarian in private practice and which additionally serves the inpatient examination, treatment and accommodation of animals. It extends the diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities of the veterinary practice.

The designation "Veterinary Clinic" may only be used with the approval of the Bavarian Chamber of Veterinary Surgeons. It is granted on application and after examination if the applying veterinary surgeon proves that the staff, premises and equipment of his/her clinic meet the minimum requirements laid down by these guidelines.

The application must be addressed to the veterinary district association in whose area the veterinary clinic is to be located. The application must be accompanied by scaled plan documents.
