Utilities industry; application for recognition as an inspection body to perform calibrations
Only state-approved test centers for measuring instruments for gas, water, heat or electricity may calibrate these measuring instruments.
Description
The Bavarian State Office for Weights and Measures can grant private companies, upon application, the authority to calibrate measuring instruments for gas, water, heat and electricity for the utility industry in accordance with the Calibration Act and the Calibration Ordinance.
For this purpose, the company must provide and maintain test rooms, test stands and senior test center personnel that comply with the calibration regulations.
In the recognition procedure, the Bavarian State Office for Weights and Measures verifies that the requirements are met. With a certificate of recognition and a final operating license as well as after public appointment and commitment of the leading test center personnel, the test center receives the authority to perform calibrations.
Prerequisites
The testing laboratory must have suitable testing rooms, recognized testing equipment and competent personnel in accordance with § 43 MessEV.
Deadlines
The recognitions of the inspection bodies, which were granted until 31.12.2014 according to the (old) calibration regulations, remain valid until 31.12.2016 at the latest (§ 62 MessEG).
All inspection bodies that wish to continue to operate in this field must apply for new recognition in accordance with § 42 MessEV.
