Intra-Community trade in certain animals and animal products; application for approval of a holding
You must apply for approval for your farm if you want to trade commercially in animals, breeding material and/or animal products within the Community.
Description
The animals, breeding material or animal products to be moved within the Community must come from approved establishments and meet identification and traceability requirements.
The overriding principle in the movement of animals is always that animal diseases will not be spread and that animal health during transport and health status at destination will not be jeopardized. This is primarily the responsibility of the operator.
Prerequisites
For the approval of an establishment wishing to carry out intra-Community trade, it is checked whether compliance with the relevant animal health and hygiene requirements is ensured.
With the approval, the respective establishment is assigned a registration number to be published for intra-Community trade.
The planned movement must be notified to the competent veterinary authority.
For a movement, the animals must meet the animal health requirements.
Procedure
The approval procedure begins with the submission of the documents relevant to the approval to the locally responsible district administrative authority (district office or independent city), which carries out a preliminary examination and forwards the application to the government. On the basis of the documents and an on-site visit, the government checks and decides whether the requirements relevant to animal diseases, animal health and hygiene are met in each individual case.
With the approval notice, the farm is assigned a registration number for intra-Community trade, which is published in TRACES NT.
