Rural area; application for funding from the EU LEADER funding programme
With the LEADER programme, the Bavarian State Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry supports rural regions on their way to self-determined development according to the motto "Citizens shape their homeland". LEADER is a proven instrument for the promotion of innovative ideas and projects that contribute significantly to the development and strengthening of rural areas.
Description
Purpose
LEADER promotes the formation of Local Action Groups (LAGs) and the implementation of local development strategies.
Object
Funding is provided for individual projects, cross-regional or transnational cooperation between LAGs and LAG management.
Recipients of funding
All applicants with a legal personality (except public authorities) are eligible to apply.
Eligible costs
Funding is available for expenditure on investment and non-investment projects.
Type and amount
LEADER funding takes the form of a grant (project funding).
The rate of funding is between 30 % and 80 % of the eligible costs, depending on the type of project and the spatial funding context.
Prerequisites
Funding requirements
- The project must be selected by the LAG.
- The projects must serve to implement the local development strategy.
- Projects must not be compulsory tasks of local authorities.
Approval
Grants can only be awarded if the project in question has not yet been started.
Procedure
Application
Each project must first be submitted to the LAG for evaluation.
The application for funding must be submitted to the local LEADER office responsible for food, agriculture and forestry.
Special notes
The Bavarian State Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry is responsible for the implementation of LEADER in Bavaria.
The LEADER coordinators at 9 Offices for Food, Agriculture and Forestry (AELF) are responsible for advice, information and coordination in LEADER.
These 9 AELFs are also home to the approval offices for handling the funding procedure.
Deadlines
Applications for funding under the LAEDER Directive can be submitted until 31.12.2020
. The approval period is generally two years (31.12.2022 at the latest).
