Purpose
In order to make it easier for interested young people to choose these training and career paths, the Free State of Bavaria pays an additional voluntary subsidy to the sponsors of the above-mentioned types of school over and above the statutory school funding. This voluntary subsidy is linked to the voluntary waiver by the sponsor of the direct collection of school fees from the students. By providing this support, the Free State aims to motivate as many young people as possible to choose one of the professions that are of particular social relevance in view of social and demographic change, namely
- Geriatric nurse,
- geriatric nurse,
- educator,
- remedial teacher,
- pediatric nurse,
- curative education nurse / curative education nurse,
- curative education nurse / curative education nurse assistant or
- Social care worker and nursing assistant.

Subject
The sponsors
- private vocational schools for geriatric care, geriatric care assistance, child care or social care,
- private academies for social pedagogy,
- private academies for therapeutic pedagogy and
- private colleges for curative education or curative education assistance
have legal claims to operating cost subsidies within the framework of state school financing (Art. 41 and Art. 45 Bavarian School Financing Act [BaySchFG]) and - indirectly - to reimbursement of school fees (Art. 47 Para. 3 to 5 BaySchFG).
For the private vocational schools in the aforementioned training occupations, the Free State of Bavaria also pays the class subsidy (one of the two pillars of the care bonus) as a voluntary benefit without a statutory legal entitlement within the framework of the available budget funds (budget reservation). The school operator may not then charge its students any additional school fees over and above the state funding.
The private vocational schools in the two geriatric nursing professions also receive the so-called school-related base amount (the other of the two pillars of the nursing bonus).
Beneficiaries
The following are eligible to apply
- Private vocational schools for geriatric care, geriatric care assistance, child care and social care,
- private academies for social pedagogy,
- private academies for therapeutic pedagogy and
- private specialized schools for curative education or curative education assistance.
Type and amount
This is a grant. The exact amount of the subsidy depends on the class size and the type of school (see the announcement of the Bavarian State Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs on the nursing and health care bonus, master craftsman bonus and bonus for equivalent degrees (bonus), reimbursement of fees for the sign language interpreter examination and master craftsman prize of June 12, 2019 (BayMBl. No. 238), which was last amended by announcement of October 11, 2021 (BayMBl. No. 751).
