Description

Purpose

The Free State of Bavaria grants subsidies

• for the construction and expansion of the projects specified in Art. 2 No. 1 f) and g), Nos. 2 to 4, No. 5 half-sentence 2 and Art. 8 Bavarian Municipal Transport Financing Act (infrastructure funding), as well as
• for the procurement of vehicles pursuant to Art. 2 No. 6 Bavarian Municipal Transport Financing Act (vehicle funding),

insofar as these measures serve to improve local public transport (Art. 1 and 2 Bavarian Local Public Transport Act (BayÖPNVG)) in Bavaria.

It also grants subsidies in accordance with Art. 21 (investment subsidies) and 27 (local public transport allocations) of the Bavarian Local Public Transport Act (BayÖPNVG).

Object

To improve traffic conditions in local public transport, grants are awarded for the rail and road-related construction or expansion of traffic routes, interchange parking areas and stops, bus depots, central workshops, bicycle parking facilities, traffic guidance systems and acceleration measures, as well as vehicles (buses in regular service pursuant to Section 42 PBefG, streetcar and subway vehicles), provided they serve local public transport.

Recipients of funding

Eligible applicants are municipalities, districts and local authorities, public and private transport companies, provided that the projects serve local public transport.

Eligible costs

The eligible costs depend on the individual case.

Type and amount

Grants are awarded in the form of project funding (fixed-amount funding) or share funding.

Prerequisites

The project must

• Be necessary to improve traffic conditions,
• be provided for in a general transport plan or equivalent plan,
• be planned in a structurally and traffic-technically sound manner, taking into account the principle of economic efficiency and economy,
• be coordinated with urban development measures that may be affected,
• take into account the interests of people with disabilities or mobility impairments and meet the requirements of barrier-free access as far as possible, and
• the financing must be guaranteed.

Procedure

The governments are responsible for the procedure.

A written request is required.

Deadlines

The application must be submitted by December 1 for the following year.
