Lunch-time supervision at elementary and special schools; application for funding
The Free State of Bavaria funds groups of midday care to support reliable care for children after the scheduled end of classes.
Description
Purpose
The lunchtime supervision is run by the local authorities or independent organizations and ensures that children are reliably looked after after the end of the timetabled lessons. It is a socially and recreationally pedagogically oriented care offer.
Subject
Midday care does not replace the tasks of after-school care centers, day care centers associated with special schools, and similar institutions. It is not a continuation of or a follow-up to curricular instruction, but it can be integrated into parts of school life. The range of care offered depends on the personnel and equipment available.
Recipient of funding
The recipient of the grant is the sponsor of the school effort or another independent sponsor.
Type and amount
State subsidies of between EUR 4,200 and EUR 12,000 per group and school year can be granted for lunchtime childcare facilities, depending on the type of service.
Prerequisites
The short form of lunchtime supervision ensures reliable care for children after the scheduled end of lessons until around 2:00 pm. The completion of homework is possible on a voluntary basis. The subsidy here amounts to EUR 4,200 per group and school year.
In addition to lunchtime supervision until around 2:00 p.m., extended lunchtime supervision with supervision until at least 3:30 p.m. and reliable homework supervision can also be offered. Funding of EUR 9,000 can be granted for this.
The increased funding rate of EUR 12,000 per group and school year can also be provided for extended lunchtime supervision if the following time and quality-related requirements are met:
- reliable homework supervision
- an extended care time until 4:00 p.m. in principle
- the opportunity to have lunch
- a pedagogical concept for the childcare services agreed upon by the provider and the school management,
- A learning and support program, a creative arts program or a sports and exercise program must be offered to the group for at least four hours per week. This requirement does not have to be met if the group is set up at a special school.
The other requirements for approval can be found in the relevant announcement by the Ministry of Education and in the documents relating to the annual application procedure.
Procedure
Applications for state funding must be submitted by the sponsor by the specified application date for the following school year via the school management and the relevant state education authority - directly in the case of special schools - to the district government, which will review and approve the applications and allocate the funds. At a specified time after the start of the school year, a report of the pupils actually participating and the groups set up must be submitted to the district government via the State Education Authority (or directly in the case of special schools).
Deadlines
The application date and the reporting date after the start of the school year will be announced annually as part of the application and approval process.
