Private elementary and secondary schools; application for a grant for construction measures.
School board-approved private elementary and middle schools may receive grants for construction.
Description
Purpose
The purpose of the state construction grants is to support private sponsors.
Object
Private elementary and secondary schools operated by a legal entity under public or private law and operating on a non-profit basis are granted subsidies for necessary construction measures approved by the school authorities.
A two-year waiting period applies (exception: church confessional schools).
Recipients of funding
School boards of private alternative schools are eligible to apply.
Type and amount
School boards receive a grant of 60% (70% for state-recognized elementary and middle schools and 100% for church denominational schools) of the eligible costs for necessary construction measures that have been approved by the school authorities, provided the costs exceed 25,000 euros. In this context, costs may be recognized as eligible for funding if they are considered eligible expenses for municipal school construction measures in the municipal financial equalization scheme. The timing of compensation for construction costs is determined by the funds allocated in the state budget. Grant rates of 70% and 80% are provided for private elementary schools and junior high/middle schools that were established or recognized as state substitute schools on October 7, 2014.
