Description
If you have acquired your qualification to work in public pool operations abroad and would like to take on responsible activities and work in public pools on a permanent basis, you can apply for a determination of the equivalence of your qualification.

Duties include:
- Supervising bathing operations and bathers, especially directly in the bathing area

For the qualified performance of responsible management tasks in the pool operations, further training to become a "certified foreman for pool operations" is absolutely essential.
This applies in particular to junior staff who are to take on responsible tasks in the future, e.g. as shift supervisors, deputy plant managers or plant managers. Master craftsmen are authorized to train specialized employees for pool operations.
Prerequisites
You can apply for a determination of equivalence in accordance with the Vocational Qualifications Determination Act (Berufsqualifikationsfeststellungsgesetz) if you have
- have successfully completed vocational training abroad and - in the area of regulated professions - are authorized to practice the profession in the country of training, and
- intend to pursue gainful employment in Bavaria.
An application can be submitted regardless of citizenship and residence status.
For the exercise of the profession, sufficient German language skills are also expected.
Here, the requirements that the applicant must fulfill must be indicated.
Procedure
Before submitting a written application to the Bavarian School of Administration, we recommend that you first attend a consultation.
This will help you avoid mistakes in the application and delays in processing.
The following points will be clarified during the counseling interview:
- Is my chosen profession correct?
- How does the recognition procedure work?
- What documents do I have to submit and in what form?
- What alternatives are there if necessary documents are not available?
- Are there alternatives to recognition for me?
- What can I do if I do not receive recognition?
- What are the possibilities for qualification?
Do you already have some documents in German? Then please bring them with you. During the consultation, you will find out whether you need to have additional documents translated for your application.
The application must then be submitted informally to the Bavarian School of Administration in writing with the required documents.
The Bavarian School of Administration, as the responsible office, will decide on the application.
Special notes
Specialized pool attendants and certified pool attendants are often confused with lifeguards and lifeguards, but they are fundamentally different.
