Occupational health and safety management system; consulting and auditing based on OHRIS
The industrial inspectorates at the district governments advise companies on the voluntary introduction of a company occupational health and safety management system based on OHRIS.
OHRIS (Occupational Health and Risk Management System) is an occupational health and safety management system concept for sustainably improving the protection of employees from work-related hazards and the safety of technical equipment. It was developed jointly by the Bavarian Trade Inspectorate and industry.
OHRIS enables companies to exploit the potential of systematic occupational health and safety to reduce health risks, occupational accidents, work-related downtime and disruptions to operations, improve the health and well-being of employees and boost their motivation and performance. In this way, OHRIS contributes to the economic success of a company and improves the legal certainty of the employer with regard to the fulfillment of his responsibility towards the employees. Innovative companies that have recognized these benefits preferably apply occupational health and safety management systems in an integrated management system together with a quality and/or environmental management system. OHRIS does not require certification by external service providers and does not impose any resulting cost burden on companies.
The OHRIS system concept takes into account the system element developments in quality, environmental protection and occupational health and safety management systems. This ensures that OHRIS can be easily integrated into existing company management systems. All the necessary instructions and aids for the introduction and application of an operational occupational health and safety management system based on OHRIS are summarized in the publication "The OHRIS Overall Concept - Occupational Health and Safety with a System". These aids include, among other things, a guide to action for the introduction of occupational health and safety management systems, particularly in small and medium-sized enterprises, and a guide to planning and conducting internal audits.
The industrial inspectorates at the district governments advise companies on the voluntary introduction of a company occupational health and safety management system based on OHRIS. If requested, they will conduct an audit of the company's occupational health and safety management system and - following a successful audit - recognize the system.
Recognized companies receive a certificate from the labor inspectorate, which also confirms compliance with the requirements of the International Labor Organization (ILO) "Guidelines on occupational safety and health management systems - ILO-OSH 2001", as well as the national guidelines on occupational safety and health management systems. For companies operating internationally, this certificate can also be issued in English on request.
A certificate is valid for three years. The validity period can be extended by a further three years in each case by means of a successful system audit by the responsible trade supervisory office.
Your company has a systematic company occupational health and safety organization in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and would like to introduce an occupational health and safety management system based on OHRIS as the next step.
