An introductory qualification (EQ) is an internship in a company that is subject to social insurance contributions. It is intended to prepare teenagers and young adults who have already decided on a specific occupation for training. In the company, they are introduced to the relevant training content and can put their skills to the test. Such an internship lasts between six and twelve months. The participant receives remuneration from the company.
The conclusion of the contract must be reported to the authority responsible under the Vocational Training Act, or in the case of preparation for a training occupation recognized under the Nursing Occupation Act, to the authority responsible under state law. In Bavaria, this is the Government of Middle Franconia (subject area "Social Affairs and Youth").
The conclusion of an entry qualification contract must be notified in writing by the employer to the competent body (in Bavaria: the Government of Middle Franconia) responsible for the place of residence of the participant in the entry qualification.
The skills, knowledge and abilities imparted are to be certified by the company. The company certificate is to be presented by the employer.
The responsible body (in Bavaria: the Government of Middle Franconia) issues a certificate on the successfully completed company-based entry qualification upon application by the employer or the participant in the entry qualification.
