Membership in the Bavarian Architects' Pension Fund; transmission of information

The Bavarian Architects' Pension Plan provides pension benefits in old age, in the event of occupational disability and to surviving dependents. For this purpose, it requires certain information from the new member.

Description

The Bavarian Architects' Pension Fund (BArchV) is responsible for Bavaria, Lower Saxony and Rhineland-Palatinate.

It is a public law institution with administrative autonomy and has the task of providing for its members in old age and in the event of occupational disability, as well as for the member's surviving dependents.

The pension scheme is part of the statutory pension scheme and thus the first pillar of old-age provision.

Members of the Bavarian Architects' Pension Fund acquire their pension entitlement by paying compulsory contributions and/or voluntary additional payments.

If you belong to one of the chambers of architects in Bavaria, Lower Saxony or Rhineland-Palatinate, your membership in the pension fund begins on the day of your registration in the list of architects or urban planners. The respective chamber of architects will inform the Versorgungswerk about your registration.

In order to verify your compulsory membership, data must be submitted via the membership survey form.

Membership in the Versorgungswerk continues for the entire duration of your membership in one of these architectural associations. Consequently, your membership in the Versorgungswerk only ends when you no longer belong to any of these chambers of architects. In addition, you can terminate your membership by application through exemption, provided that the requirements for this are met.

Prerequisites

  • Compulsory membership in one of the chambers of architects in Bavaria, Lower Saxony or Rhineland-Palatinate
  • No occupational disability

Special feature for graduates: For this group of persons, compulsory membership in the pension fund can already begin without chamber membership if the following membership requirements are met:

  • Successfully completed studies in the fields of architecture, interior design, landscape architecture or urban planning.
  • Practical experience in the field of study which entitles the holder to be registered as an architect or urban planner in Bavaria, Lower Saxony or Rhineland-Palatinate.
  • Notification of these membership requirements

Procedure

After registration in the list of architects or urban planners, the membership data are transmitted by the professional chamber to the BArchV.

At the beginning of membership in the BArchV, the new member must complete the survey form and send it to the BArchV. The completed survey form (see under "Forms") can be sent by mail or electronically (see under "Online procedure").
The survey form is required for further information relevant to membership, such as the amount of income subject to contributions, possible participation in the SEPA direct debit procedure, affiliation with another pension scheme of the profession.

The member will then receive a membership notice from the BArchV by mail.

Deadlines

For graduates, membership under the statutes begins retroactively to the date on which the membership requirements are met, if the survey form is received by the BArchV within three months thereafter. Otherwise with the day of receipt of the survey form.
