Description

The Versorgungsanstalt der deutschen Kulturorchester (VddKO) is responsible for German cultural orchestras. The VddKO offers the musicians of German cultural orchestras additional insurance protection in addition to the statutory pension insurance in the event of old age, occupational disability and death.

Every musician who is employed by a cultural orchestra is compulsorily insured with the VddKO. The compulsory insurance begins at the same time as the employment relationship and ends when the musician leaves the employment relationship or no longer receives remuneration despite the continuation of the same.

In order to verify the compulsory membership, data must be transmitted to the VddKO.

During periods in which musicians are not employed, they can continue to be insured voluntarily after having previously been compulsorily insured.

For certain freelance musicians, there is the possibility of voluntary insurance.

Prerequisites

There is a dependent employment relationship with a cultural orchestra.

Procedure

The compulsorily insured persons are registered with the VddKO via a member portal by their employers who are members of the VddKO as cultural orchestras.

At the beginning of the membership in the VddKO, the new member has to fill in the notice of change to the compulsory membership and send it to the VddKO. The completed form (see under "Forms") can be sent by mail or electronically (see under "Online Procedure").

The member will then receive a membership notice from the VddKO by mail.
