Workshops for disabled people are facilities for the participation of disabled people in working life who, due to a disability, cannot or cannot yet work in the general labor market.
Purpose of the funding
The purpose of the funding is to ensure that sufficient up-to-date places are available in workshops for disabled people for vocational training and employment. This will also enable severely disabled people to receive vocational training and gain employment.
Recipients of funding
Eligible to apply are the sponsors/operators of recognized workshops (umbrella organizations of the voluntary welfare sector and their affiliated organizations as well as other legally responsible and non-profit sponsors, other private sponsors as well as sponsors under public law such as associations, foundations, local authorities).
Eligible costs
Funding is available (within existing expenditure ceilings) for the costs of new construction, conversion, expansion or modernization measures and equipment or acquisition of a building for the purpose of operating a workshop for people with disabilities, its conversion and repair.
Type and amount of state funding
The share of funding from the equalization levy generally amounts to 65% of the eligible expenses and is usually provided in the form of a grant (80%) and a loan (20%). In addition, cost ceilings that provide for a maximum subsidy per workshop place must be observed.
