Regular bus service; application for funding
The procurement of regular buses may be subsidized to the extent that they are necessary to maintain and improve regular services pursuant to Section 42 of the Passenger Transportation Act.
Description
Purpose
The Free State of Bavaria grants subsidies to improve local public transport.
Object
Buses are subsidized insofar as they are required to maintain and improve scheduled services in accordance with Section 42 of the German Passenger Transportation Act (Personenbeförderungsgesetz). Funding is provided for the procurement of new buses. Buses with zero-emission and low-emission drive systems within the meaning of Section 2 Nos. 5, 6 of the Clean Vehicles Procurement Act receive special funding.
Recipients of funding
Public and private transport companies are eligible to apply.
Eligible costs
Funding is available for the acquisition costs of vehicles and their equipment that are suitable for local public transport purposes, but not for ticketing and ticket validation equipment.
Type and amount
The subsidy amounts for the individual bus categories and for the additional costs of alternative drive technologies or additional technology components are set by the Bavarian State Ministry of Housing, Construction and Transport and updated as required. For details, please refer to the "Key points for the promotion of "climate buses" within the framework of bus promotion in the Free State of Bavaria.
Prerequisites
The applicant must operate scheduled public transport services in accordance with Section 42 of the PBefG as a concessionaire, operator or contracting company predominantly in Bavaria.
The applicant must credibly demonstrate that it intends to use the new buses to be purchased for at least eight years or for a mileage of 500,000 km for the purpose of the grant.
The subsidized buses must take into account the needs of people with disabilities or mobility impairments, and the buses must meet the requirements for being equipped with WLAN.
Procedure
The written application must be submitted to the district government in whose area the transport is predominantly operated. The application form can be found on the homepage of the responsible government.
When planning the project, the responsible representatives for the interests of people with disabilities must be consulted in accordance with Art. 18 of the Bavarian Equal Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities Act. If a local authority does not have representatives or advisory councils for people with disabilities, the relevant associations within the meaning of Section 13 (3) of the Equal Opportunities for People with Disabilities Act must be consulted instead.

The application must be submitted no later than December 1 of the previous year of procurement.
