The cross-border cooperation program INTERREG Bavaria Czech Republic 2021-2027 builds on the EU program Free State of Bavaria - Czech Republic Objective ETC 2014-2020.
The INTERREG Bavaria Czech Republic 2021-2027 program promotes cross-border cooperation in the Bavarian-Czech border region.
The objective of the program is to jointly overcome challenges and to further develop the common living, natural and economic space in the Bavarian-Czech border region.
Funding is available in the following five priorities:
- Priority 1: Research and knowledge transfer
- Priority 2: Adaptation to climate change and environmental protection
- Priority 3: Education
- Priority 4: Culture and sustainable tourism
- Priority 5: Better Interreg governance
Funding volume: EU funding amounting to 99 million euros from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) will be made available to the program for the implementation of cross-border projects in the Bavarian-Czech border region.
Assisted area: On the Bavarian side, the eligible area includes the counties of Amberg-Sulzbach, Bayreuth, Cham, Deggendorf, Freyung-Grafenau, Hof, Kronach, Kulmbach, Neustadt an der Waldnaab, Passau, Regen, Regensburg, Schwandorf, Straubing-Bogen, Tirschenreuth and Wunsiedel im Fichtelgebirge, the independent cities of Amberg, Bayreuth, Hof, Passau, Regensburg, Straubing and Weiden in der Oberpfalz, and the districts of Plzeňský kraj (Pilsen district), Karlovarský kraj (Karlovy Vary district) and Jihočeský kraj (South Bohemia district) on the Czech side.
The funding rates are up to 80% of the total project costs eligible for co-financing.
Furthermore, there are also funding opportunities for citizen-oriented "small projects" from the so-called small project fund in the funding period 2021-2027.

Applications are submitted in the so-called "Joint Electronic Monitoring System (Jems)" of the INTERREG Bavaria-Czech Republic 2021-2027 program (see under "Online procedure"). The Bavarian-Czech Monitoring Committee decides on the scheduling of projects. It usually meets twice a year and decides independently on the scheduling of the submitted projects.
