Accidents at work, claims and occupational diseases; carrying out investigations
The labour inspectorates at the governments conduct investigations into occupational accidents and assist in investigations into damage to plant and equipment. Furthermore, they prepare expert reports within the framework of occupational disease procedures of the accident insurance institutions.
The purpose is to clarify the causes of hazardous or health-endangering events or activities, to derive necessary measures and thereby to improve the occupational health and safety of employees at their workplaces.
Findings available to the labour inspectorates concerning accidents at work and cases of damage to plant and equipment are examined to determine the need for further occupational health and safety measures. Furthermore, as an independent, neutral institution, the labour inspectorate participates in various procedural steps of the occupational disease procedure.
In order to assess the causes of an occupational accident, a case of damage or the occupational disease - suspicion reported to the accident insurance institution and the resulting requirements for improving the safety and health protection of employees, it is often necessary for the Labour Inspectorate to visit and examine the site.
The Tissue Inspectorate uses the means at its disposal to work towards the future prevention of comparable occupational accidents, incidents of damage and occupational diseases.
