Driving personnel; operational checks to verify driving times and rest periods
Checking compliance with the rules on the duration of driving times, breaks and rest periods for lorry and bus drivers.
Description
Overtired lorry or bus drivers endanger themselves and pose a considerable danger to road traffic. The European Union and German legislators have therefore enacted laws and regulations. These require drivers of lorries, buses and trams to comply with regulations on driving times and rest periods, and employers to monitor their drivers and install tachographs. The primary objectives of these regulations are to protect the health of drivers, to improve road safety and to harmonise competition.
The Labour Inspectorate checks compliance with the international, European and national regulations on driving times and rest periods for driving personnel within the framework of company inspections, penalises infringements by companies and drivers and orders the necessary measures.
