The public service in Bavaria offers a variety of fields of activity for a citizen-friendly, high-performance and efficient administration.
The Bavarian State Government has set a forward-looking, structural course for the public service in Bavaria. Competencies in the areas of salary, career and pension law are used to design unbureaucratic, flexible and performance-oriented regulations in the broadest possible consensus among Bavarian employers and civil servants. At the same time, a future-oriented service law must create the necessary perspectives for the employees in order to be able to maintain and promote their willingness to perform in the long term. Because the changed social basic conditions require also from the public service an effective and efficient task completion.
To this end, the civil service has qualified staff at its disposal, ranging from university lecturers, architects or engineers, to police and tax officials, to those employed in clinics or museum services. In particular, the high level of qualification of the employees of the Free State of Bavaria, more than 70 % of whom are civil servants with a university or technical college degree, guarantees that public tasks will continue to be performed to a high standard in the future.
The Ministry of Finance, with its responsibility for public service law and as a negotiating partner of the trade unions for the work and employment relationships of over 370,000 employees at the Free State of Bavaria, plays the central employer role within the Free State of Bavaria. The modern design and further development of the civil service and collective bargaining law form the basis for a future-oriented and competitive personnel policy. The aim is to make the public service fit for the tasks of the future.
