Study; application to the academies of fine arts

The Bavarian Academies of Fine Arts offers various courses of study.

In addition to an aptitude test, which is intended to demonstrate a pronounced artistic-creative talent and suitability for the chosen field of study, studies at an Academy of Fine Arts generally require the general/(relevant) subject-linked university entrance qualification or completed vocational training and practical work in a relevant branch of the profession. The study of art education for the teaching profession at grammar schools as well as the study of interior design requires the general university entrance qualification or the (relevant) subject-related university entrance qualification.

The minimum age for admission is 18 years, the maximum age is 30 years. In the case of exceptional artistic talent, which must be proven in the aptitude test, exceptions to certain requirements may be permitted, provided that at least the fulfillment of compulsory school attendance is proven.

Special regulations for individual courses of study are to be inquired at the respective academy.

As a rule, studies at the Academies of Fine Arts can only be taken up in the winter semester. The deadlines for applying for admission to the program can be obtained from the academies.

  • A contribution to the respective student union and a contribution to administrative costs must be paid.
