Mortuary passport; application for issuance
A mortuary passport is required for transfers within the federal territory or abroad if the country to which a corpse is to be transferred or a country touched on the journey requires a mortuary passport.
The mortuary passport is issued by the municipality in whose territory the transport begins. The passport can be issued only if the required documents have been submitted.
The death certificate must be presented, and in the case of a suspected non-natural death, the burial permit in accordance with Section 159 (2) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, and in the case of a transfer for the purpose of cremation, also a confirmation from the competent police station that it is not aware of any indications of a non-natural death. In the case of transfers abroad, the registry office must have noted the certification of the death or the postponement of the certification on the death certificate.
- The fees or costs for the issuance of a mortuary passport vary depending on the municipality.
