Conformity assessment of a measuring device; application
The conformity assessment of a measuring instrument replaces the former initial verification.
Description
The conformity assessment of a measuring instrument according to harmonized directives, i.e. 2009/23/EC for non-automatic weighing instruments or 2004/22/EC for further 10 measuring instrument categories, replaces the former initial verification. Instead of the responsible weights and measures office, a notified body selected by the manufacturer confirms the conformity of the manufactured measuring instrument with the directive in the form of a certificate of conformity after testing. In this way, the notified body supports the manufacturer in issuing a mandatory written declaration of conformity, which also lists other directives observed by the manufacturer.
The Bavarian State Office of Weights and Measures is a notified body with the identification number 0104 for selected conformity assessment procedures and measuring instruments.
Further information is available on the website of the Bavarian Conformity Assessment Body (for link see "Further links").
Procedure
Information on the conformity assessment procedure according to Directives 2004/22/EC and 2009/23/EC can be found under "Further links".
