Schools; information on lunchtime supervision
Lunchtime supervision is set up depending on need and regional circumstances.
Description
The lunchtime care is run by the local authority or by independent providers and guarantees reliable care for children after the end of lessons until around 2.00 pm. It is a social and recreational pedagogically oriented care offer. Homework can be done on a voluntary basis.
Under the same conditions as the lunchtime supervision until about 2.00 p.m., an extended lunchtime supervision with supervision times until at least 3.30 p.m. and with reliable homework supervision can also be offered.
In addition, it is possible to receive an increased rate of funding per group and school year for extended lunchtime care if certain time and quality-related requirements are met. In addition to the requirement for extended lunchtime supervision that reliable homework supervision is provided, extended supervision until 4 p.m. must be guaranteed, the opportunity to have lunch must be given and the provider must submit a pedagogical concept for the supervision services that has been agreed with the school management. In addition, a learning and support programme, an artistic and creative programme or a sports and exercise programme must be offered to the group for at least four hours per week. The latter requirement does not have to be met if the group is set up at a special school.
You can obtain more detailed information on the lunchtime supervision offer at your school or on the website of the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs (see under "Further links").
