Schools; information on lunchtime supervision

Lunchtime supervision is set up depending on demand and regional conditions.

Description

The lunchtime supervision is run by a local authority or independent organization and ensures that children can be reliably looked after after the end of lessons until around 2 pm. It is a social and recreational pedagogically oriented care offer. Homework can be done on a voluntary basis.

Under the same conditions as the midday care until about 2:00 p.m., extended midday care with care times until at least 3:30 p.m. and with reliable homework supervision can also be offered.

In addition, it is possible to receive an increased subsidy rate per group and school year for extended lunchtime care if certain time and quality-related requirements are met. In addition to the requirement that reliable homework supervision must be provided, extended supervision until 4 p.m. must be guaranteed, the opportunity to have lunch must be given, and the provider must submit a pedagogical concept for the supervision services that has been coordinated with the school management. In addition, a learning and support program, a creative arts program or a sports and exercise program must be offered to the group for at least four hours per week. The latter requirement does not have to be met if the group is set up at a special school.

You can obtain more information about the lunchtime supervision program at your school or on the website of the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs (see "Further links").
