The funding is provided for the purpose of granting sponsors of these facilities a lump sum of a maximum of 100 euros per unoccupied day, up to a maximum of 10,000 euros per year, in order to cushion the particular financial risks associated with the provision.
The purpose of the funding is to relieve operators of full inpatient care facilities of the special financial risks associated with the provision of short-term care places and to reduce obstacles to the creation of short-term care places.
Within the framework of project funding, a maximum of 100 euros per unoccupied day up to a maximum of 10,000 euros per place and year can be granted for the creation of new permanent short-term care places or the conversion of long-term care places into permanent short-term care places for a period of at least three years from the date of notification of the funding decision.
The grant amounts to a maximum of 90 percent of the facility-specific daily rate.

Recipients of grants
Eligible applicants are operators of fully inpatient care facilities that have signed a care contract pursuant to §§ 72 et seq. SGB XI and a remuneration agreement pursuant to § 85 SGB XI.
Eligible costs are those incurred for the provision of short-term care within the maximum funding limits.
Type, amount and duration of the grant
The grant is awarded in the form of shortfall financing as part of project funding. The approval period is three years. The grant amounts to a maximum of 100 euros per unoccupied day and is capped at a maximum of 10,000 euros per place and year, up to a maximum of 90% of the facility's individual daily rate.
