Ammunition; testing and approval
Ammunition intended for trade is approved by the firing offices with regard to correct marking, dimensions and compliance with the maximum permissible gas pressure.
Description
The safety inspection of firearms required by the Proof of Fire Act only makes sense if the ammunition used is also inspected. Ammunition intended for trade is approved by the firing offices with regard to correct marking, dimensions and compliance with the maximum permissible gas pressure.
The manufacturer is obliged to affix the ammunition test mark granted in the approval to the smallest packaging unit. To ensure consistent quality, fabrication inspections are performed by the firing offices.
If the manufacturer has suitable testing facilities, he can carry out the manufacturing checks himself. In this case, the Proof Office monitors the measuring equipment used.
