Flying schools for the training of air sports equipment operators; application for approval
Ultralight aircraft, hang gliders, paragliders, skydiving parachutes and gliders are grouped together in the aircraft class of air sports equipment. Flying schools for the training of air sports equipment pilots must be approved.
Description
Flight schools require a license in accordance with Section 28 of the German Aviation Personnel Ordinance (LuftPersV) in order to train pilots. The flight school's approval for the training of air sports equipment operators can be applied for from the following associations:
- for ultralight aircraft: Deutscher Aero Club e.V. (DAeC); Deutscher Ultraleichtflugverband e.V. (DULV)
- for hang gliders, paragliders: Deutscher Hängegleiterverband e.V. (DHV)
- for parachutes: Deutscher Aero Club e.V. (DAeC); Deutscher Fallschirmsport Verband e.V. (DFV)
- for paragliders: Deutscher Aero Club e.V. (DAeC); Deutscher Hängegleiterverband e.V. (DHV)
Prerequisites
The application for approval of a training facility for the training of air sports equipment operators must include
- A declaration of any ongoing investigations or criminal proceedings and that a certificate of good conduct in accordance with Section 30 BZRG has been requested for submission to the competent authority,
- in the case of legal entities and partnerships, the name and address of the persons authorized to represent them.
Procedure
The application must be submitted to the responsible association. The following information must be provided.
- Name and address of the training institution;
- Intended start date of the training activity;
- Name, address and telephone number of the training instructor and flight instructors, stating their qualifications;
- Name and address of the airfield;
- List of aircraft to be used at the training facility, including aircraft class/type and, if applicable, type, entry in the aircraft register, owner, category of airworthiness certificate;
- Type of training to be conducted at the facility (theoretical training, flight training, ratings);
- Information on the insurance of the aircraft and the trainees;
- Information on full or part-time operation of the training facility;
- Declaration that the information provided is correct and that the training will be carried out in accordance with the relevant regulations.

including any synthetic flight training devices (if applicable), stating: Aircraft class/type and if applicable, registration in the aircraft register, holder, category of airworthiness certificate;
Fees
- Information on the costs incurred for registering the training institution must be obtained from the relevant association.
