Private substitute schools; application for tuition reimbursement.
The Free State of Bavaria grants tuition reimbursement for students at private alternative schools in accordance with Art. 47 BaySchFG.
For pupils attending state-approved secondary schools, grammar schools, vocational schools and second-chance schools, the Free State of Bavaria reimburses the parents or adult pupils for school fees up to the amount of 110.00 euros per month of tuition. For students attending a state-approved alternative school of the aforementioned types, the state reimburses the school fees up to 70% of the school fee replacement for state-approved schools. Tuition reimbursement is not paid for the month of August.
The application is made by the respective school authority.

- Tuition substitutes are generally paid for each month of instruction in which a student has (partially) attended classes.
The application for tuition replacement deductions must be submitted in writing by the respective school board to the Bavarian State Office for Schools. After reviewing the application, the State Office decides whether to grant the statutory benefits. In the event of approval in the months of November, February and May, the school boards receive three times the amount of the subsidy resulting for the month of October as down payments (§ 22 AVBaySchFG).
At the end of the school year, a further application must be submitted with a list of pupils by name, showing the number of months for which school fees were payable and the target amount of school fee compensation.
The application for a final account must be submitted by October 10 of each year, stating the number of students as of October 1 and the amount of tuition assessed each month.
In order that the final payment may be made promptly, the application for final payment together with the list of pupils must be submitted as soon as possible after the end of the school year, but not later than October 15.
If the application is submitted on time by the school board, it will receive written notification in mid-November.
