Private alternative schools; application for reimbursement of school fees
The Free State of Bavaria grants reimbursement of school fees for pupils at private alternative schools in accordance with Art. 47 BaySchFG.
For pupils of state-approved secondary modern schools, grammar schools, vocational schools and schools of the second educational path, the Free State of Bavaria reimburses the school fees for the legal guardians or pupils of full age up to the amount of 110.00 euros per month of tuition. For pupils attending a state-approved alternative school of the above-mentioned types of school, the state reimburses the school fees up to 70 % of the school fee replacement for state-approved schools. Tuition reimbursement is not paid for the month of August.
The application is made by the respective school authority.

- Tuition substitutes are generally paid for each month of instruction in which a student has (partially) attended classes.
The application for school fee replacement deductions must be submitted in writing by the respective school authority to the Bavarian State Office for Schools. After examination, the State Office decides on the approval of the statutory benefits. In the event of approval in the months of November, February and May, the school authorities receive in each case three times the amount of the subsidy resulting for the month of October as payments on account (§ 22 AVBaySchFG).
At the end of the school year, a further application with a list of pupils by name is to be submitted, which contains the number of months for which school fees had to be paid and the target amount of school fee replacement.
The application for payment on account must be submitted by 10 October each year, stating the number of pupils as at 1 October and the amount of school fees set each month.
In order that the final payment can be made promptly, the application for final payment together with the list of pupils must be submitted as soon as possible after the end of the school year, but no later than 15 October.
If the application is submitted on time by the school board, it will receive written notification in mid-November.
