Freedom of information; request for information
You can obtain information about the contents of files and records of public bodies.
Description
In Bavaria, you can assert your freedom of information rights either via Art. 39 Bavarian Data Protection Act (general right to information), via Art. 3 Bavarian Environmental Information Act or via Section 2 Consumer Information Act.
The information can be provided, for example, by means of an informational interview, file or record inspection, the provision of file media, copies or by electronic provision.
These freedom of information rights do not apply to information regarding your personal data. For more information, please refer to "Related topics" under "Data privacy; assertion of data subject rights".
Prerequisites
In particular, information pursuant to Art. 39 of the Bavarian Data Protection Act can only be provided if you can credibly demonstrate a legitimate interest that is not directed at further use in return for payment and can be of a legal, economic or non-material nature. Information may be refused if, for example, public or private interests conflict with this.
Procedure
You can submit the request directly to the respective authority. In the request, you must indicate which information you would like to access.
Fees
- Costs will be charged for information in accordance with the Cost Act. You will receive more details during processing.
