Master wine maker exam; registration

Registration for school attendance and for the master vintner's examination must be made at the Bavarian State Institute for Viticulture and Horticulture.

Description

The master winemakers usually run their winery independently. There, they are responsible for the completion of work in the vineyard and cellar, for marketing and training.

Training to become a master winemaker is an advanced vocational training course in accordance with the Vocational Training Act (BBiG), which requires training in the recognized training occupation of winemaker or another agricultural training occupation with several years of professional experience.

Preparation for the master winemaker examination can be carried out as follows: The Staatliche Fach- und Technikerschule für Agrarwirtschaft Veitshöchheim offers a one-year advanced training course to become a state-certified economist for viticulture and oenology. Students can also use this advanced training to prepare for the master craftsman's examination in viticulture. Part of the final examinations at the end of the first year (vocational training and employee management, project work, sensory analysis) are recognized for the master craftsman's examination. The other examinations for the master craftsman's examination are taken in the following year in which the master craftsman candidates work in the company.

The master craftsman examination can also be started without attending school.

Those who can prove 24 months of professional practice after the vocational final examination are admitted to the master craftsman examination.
